課程概述

本課程主要介紹蚊蟲生物學,內容涵蓋蚊蟲型態鑑定技術、生態特性、媒介重要傳染病及其防治策略等。課程另有蚊蟲鑑定及防治技術實務。
The course introduces mosquito biology. Students will learn to identify mosquito species by morphological keys as well as knowledge about mosquito ecological characteristics, important vector-borne diseases, and the corresponding control strategies. Besides, the practical courses give students firsthand experience in performing species identification and source reduction.
 

課程目標
本課程希望同學能認識蚊蟲基礎外部特徵,病媒蚊的生態習性、危害方式及防治方法,避免蚊蟲危害及蚊媒傳染病之爆發。
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to recognize mosquito by their morphological characteristics, describe the ecological behaviors of vector mosquitoes, illustrate the transmission of vector-borne diseases, and list individual and population prevention and control methods for major vector-borne diseases.
At the end of the course the students are expected to
1. Explain biological and genetic factors that affect a population’s health (D17-8)
2. Explain an ecological perspective on the connections among human health, animal health and ecosystem health (e.g. One Health) (D17-12)


 
課程要求
本課程為專業進階課程,需具備基礎病媒昆蟲能力,及獨立採集蚊蟲經驗。
1.需全程參與並準時上課,並參與實作課程 (蚊蟲鑑定和藥效試驗)。
2.課程結束辦理(1)學科和(2)標本鑑識測驗。
This is an advanced course. Fundamentals of medical entomology and experience of field sampling are prerequisite.
1. Students are expected to attend the classes on time and engage in the practical courses, including species identification and resistance tests.
2. Final exam includes contents in the lectures and practical species identification.
